Although we prefer to look at attractive faces it is not known if we can override this preference on tasks where attending primarily to attractive faces is not a good strategy Here we tested if changes to faces that had been manipulated to increase their attractiveness were detected faster than identical changes to versions of these faces that had been manipulated to decrease their attractiveness.
