One area in which resemblance to self is expected to be important is when people (especially men) judge their resemblance to an infant (although we have found evidence to the contrary). One way to make faces look more neotenous (baby-like) is to morph them with an average infant face.
We currently use a more sophisticated transformation of infant faces in our research on the effects of self-resemblance on parental solicitude, but these were the first attempts that Lisa made and she's rather fond of their Muppet Baby-like appearance. Place your mouse cursor over a ‘Muppet Baby’ to see the adult version. Thanks to all the McMaster graduate students who let us use their faces.
